Indy is one of our new herd sires. He was a very independent foal, went all over the field where ever he wanted to go, and so the name. We kept quiet about him, didn't post him to our web page, just waiting for him to mature. He has what we want in a herd sire, short coupled, nice balance, good overall conformation. Very nice temperament, which is one thing we breed for. Indy has a stocky build, which is unusual in a small jack. He has good red color, and a pedigree full of donkeys we have admired. We started to use him as a herd sire in 2010.

Congratulations

Pepperazzi is our latest black miniature donkey Herd Sire. Sire and Dam were both in the Elms Farm breeding program for many years. He was bred to be a black outcross jack, not related to the Motown/Black Russian bloodline. We like his small size, short coupled body, and smooth build. He has a very willing temperament, very easy to halter and lead.

Pepperazzi was an ineffective breeding jack and only sired one foal, a very nice black jennet. If jacks are not being used to breed, they should be gelded. We gelded Pepperazzi. He is now a very mannerly, friendly, and easy to work with donkey, with a future life free of the stress of hormones.

Fusion is red, red, red, small and stocky. Great temperament too. Everything you want in a herd sire. We hoped for a herd sire quality jack when we bred his dam, and are very pleased with the results of this breeding. We named him The Elms Red Fusion because he is a blend of several red bloodlines. Fusion's sire is our herd sire, Santana, who is by Red Rock and out of Red Kelly. Fusion's dam is Aphrodite, sired by Cherries Jubilee, and out of a full sister to our herd sire, Fiftyfire. All very excellent donkeys. Fusion has several jennets in foal for 2009. We expect some special foals from him!

Congratulations Hill's Haven!

We have really liked this jack since we first saw him. Now he is one of our herd sires. Santana is compact, and solid, with good bone, and a wide chest, unusual in a 31 inch jack. He is a rich, clear, dark red color. His first foals have been excellent, and we expect to produce some outstanding foals with the wonderful group of jennets who are lined up to breed to him. They are taking numbers!

Gone to a new home!

Congratulations Ponderosa Donkey Farm!

FIFTYFIRE is a beautiful 31.5" frosty roan, medium sorrel jack. His extensive white points, and roan muzzle really highlight his great sorrel color. He was sired by The Fireman, with Valintino 50th, as a maternal grandfather. This famous, well muscled, drafty jack has straight, square back legs, a perfect bite, and a balanced build. We breed him to a select jennet herd, and he stamps his foals with eye-catching looks, that show winning quality. He has sired champions.

Gone to a new home!
We wish Fiftyfire all the best in his new home with
Byron and Diana Boysen, The Downs. Congratulations!

We selected Half Ass Acres Mojave as our herdsire based on his excellent conformation and pedigree. He has all the qualities we look for in a miniature donkey. Mojave is a gorgeous black jack out of Peppercorn. We are excited about the many possibilities with this fine, heavy boned sire. He embodies everything we value in a herd sire: correct conformation, heavy bones, a gorgeous small head, a fine pedigree with loads of color, two parents we admired and all wrapped up in a sweet dispositioned package. Congratulations to Ponderosa Donkey Farm!
