Donkey Foals - the Ultimate "Warm Fuzzies" Miniature
donkeys are among the most adorable creatures, and miniature donkey foals are the cutest,
most adorable of all. While there is not a "miniature donkey for sale" sign on
every mini donkey foal, we thought you would enjoy seeing them all. These miniature
donkey foals are the result of thoughtful breeding of our quality, registered miniature
donkey jacks and jennets. In order to produce miniature donkeys of the highest quality,
each mating is carefully planned to strengthen the characteristics of the parents. If you
have specific interest in a particular miniature donkey foal on the way or one on this page,
please let us know. We invite you to visit our donkey brood jennet page where we list which
jennet is bred to which jack and the approximate due date. |

The Elms
Chantilly Lace is Geronimo's last foal of 2009, and another lovely
spotted jennet to finish the year. Her mother is an elegant, true black
miniature donkey jennet. She is one of our Black Knight daughters,
and has a wonderful temperament, which he is known to give to his foals.
Chantilly Lace is a tri-color spot at birth, mostly brown and white,
with a bold black spot on her leg. We have seen that the spotted donkey
foals can vary a lot in color in their foal coat, often getting much
darker when they shed. It will be interesting to watch this little
jennet develop.

This
is a darling little jennet, right from the beginning she followed her mother
everywhere. Trot, trot trot, just a little go getter. Her sire, Mojave, is
black and is known to carry red. We think he gave her a red gene, so that
is why she is a lighter color than both her sire and dam. Now at two months
of age Little Go Getter is showing much darker color on her face and may end
up a dark brown.

There
are no spots in Midnight Miss's background, so we were surprised to get a
spotted jennet with so much white on her. Her foal coat is very fine, and
gives all the pictures of her a soft focus, like mist. So Lady in the Mist
is her name. Thanks to Linda Trimnell for suggesting it. At two days old,
already very sweet, she is sure to be a favorite. Not Available at This Time.

His mother carries red with black, so we bred her to Fusion to try for Fusion's intensely rich color. It looks like we succeeded with this mini donkey jack. He is The Elms Red Fusion's first foal, and at 1/2 day old, he already has straight legs with wide spacing. The small star is a bonus that highlights his face. It is early yet, but this little donkey may be retained in our breeding program. Thanks to our webmaster for this great name suggestion.

second foal, and a beautiful spot. Flying Cloud has similar markings as her
sire, including the large white patches on the hip, making her look like
she is wearing shorts from behind. She has dark legs from above the hocks,
and lots of bold contrast. Full eye mascara, and about 50% color. She is
a very nicely marked spotted miniature donkey jennet. Not for sale, Future

Yes, he is good, very very good. Our great donkey friend, Linda Trimnell, named him tonight, and said he is tops. Linda really knows her donkeys, and told us his sire, Geronimo, would be a great jack for our program. Tiny, stocky, very straight, in a rich black color, and with those parentheses ears, Black Eagle has it all. Black Eagle is for sale, available at weaning. Here
is a nicely marked spotted jack, sired by Mojave. He is a tri-color spot,
with a tyger spotted pattern. He has full mascara around his eyes, no pink.
He has similar markings to his mother, Makenna, and we named him after the
old movie, Makenna's Gold. His dam is known around here as Rayban,
because her black patches by both eyes make her look like she is wearing sunglasses.
Makenna, the foal, has nice straight legs, and a perfect bite, looks like a
good future herd sire candidate. After some thought, we have decided to offer
Makenna's Gold for sale. Visit our 'for

Here is a drop dead gorgeous black jack, with a big star! He has the glossy black hair, and nice stocky build we often get from our herd sire, Black Knight. His mother, Dinky Doodle, is a classy, and classic, miniature gray dun jennet. We have kept her 2007 foal, The Elms People Magnet, in our breeding herd.

Spots! Tequila's first foal is a spotted jack with lots of pretty white on his face, and three wide bands of white that go around his upper legs. So we named him Bandolero. He is a well built foal, and Tequila is doing a fine job mothering him. Tequila is a wooly jennet, and Bandolero carries the long haired genetics. He may be a wooly as well, his mane is exceptionally long for a new foal. Not for sale, Future Elms Farm Herd Sire.

We like black miniature donkeys, and this jennet hits the spot! Her
mother is coal black, with no white hairs other than her nose and eye
rings. La Reine Helene is black with a white nose and eye rings, and
also the white belly, like her sire, The Elms Rembrandt. Very pretty
ears as well. She shows a cross, just barely. She is stocky and
straight, and carries herself regally, hence the name. La Reine means
'Queen' in French.

I love it
when a friend walks in, takes one look at a foal, and says, "that is a fancy
foal." From someone who has seen a lot of foals, that is high praise. The
Elms Miss Fancy Pants is a fancy miniature donkey, with a black coat, super
straight legs, pretty upright head carriage, and a lot of style. Her dam,
Jayla, is a rock solid jennet, stocky, short coupled, and straight. Her sire,
Rembrandt, is doing what we bred him to do, put the pizzaz in the breeding.

We named this miniature donkey jack after my sister, Scotti, who celebrated her 60th birthday the day he was born. He is a deep charcoal gray, with lots of roan in his coat. His mother is a fully frosted roan jennet, so he may get lighter as time goes on. The effect is so pretty, with gray and white hairs mixed in his coat. Scotti has a stocky build, is very correct, and seems to have the mellow temperament of both his sire and dam.

Another gem of a miniature donkey by our herd sire, Rembrandt! The artist Renoir is known for his dreamy colors in his paintings, and this little mini donkey has fabulous color and patterns. As a foal he shows bold markings, and a brown coat with red highlights. We think his color will change, but not sure how. Meanwhile, he is very eye catching in the field, with a wonderful personality. Renoir carries the wooly gene, from his dam, Apple Blossom.
