The miniature donkey brood jennets listed below are a sample of the quality female donkeys in the Elms Farm donkey breeding program. Our breeding female donkeys have been carefully selected for their conformation, pedigree, bloodline, temperament, color, genetic diversity, and compatibility with our herd sires. We travel throughout North America to personally inspect prospective jennets to ensure they meet our criteria before including them in our breeding program. Using this approach and carefully planning each herd sire - jennet mating, we believe we can produce top quality miniature donkeys and further improve the miniature donkey breed.

Sedona is a beautiful dark red jennet, the rich clear red that isn't seen so often anymore. We were in Sedona, Arizona, when she was born, and came home to find this showy dark red jenny. A Fiftyfire daughter, she carries herself elegantly, and up-headed. Sedona Red has her sire's showy movement.

Cherry-ette is a stocky jenny, very representative of the excellent build of the foundation red jacks. She goes back to Winchester, Rose Bud, Red Lightening, Buster, and The Fireman.  Smooth, well muscled, drafty build, good balance, and feminine as well. She is one of those quiet jennets you tuck in your herd, breed them right, and get some quality foals. Her first foal was born in July, 2011, The Elms Cherry-Beau.

One of the last born of our Fiftyfire daughters, and out of a stocky Red Baron daughter, Ellie May. Pink Phlox has Fiftyfire's go anywhere attitude, with his pretty head. This miniature jennet has beautiful markings, garters on the legs, a bold cross and defined dorsal stripe, all set off with the pink tones, that are the dilute version of the red genetics.

Dam:  MGF Apple Blossom, 32.25" White
Grand Sire:  MGF Little Pink Harry, 30.5" Gray & White Spotted
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus Apple Annie, 33" Brown

We expected all kinds of color possibilities when we bred Rembrandt (black) to Apple Blossom (fully frosted spotted white with an unknown base color), but were utterly surprised with this lovely red jennet foal. From day one I wanted to keep her in our herd. Rose Blossom has grown up to have a stocky build, nice chest, great back line and legs, with the wonderful temperament both her sire and dam have. The pictures show Rose Blossom in her two coats, one shows her in spring shaggy coat. She is not a wooly as she does shed out fully in the summer, as in the second picture. She is a wooly (long haired) carrier. We have chosen to breed Rose Blossom for red, not wooly, as we do not at this time have a red wooly jack she can be bred to.

Very lovely jennet sired by Prime Time, with Fireman for the grandsire. Smooth bodied, well balanced, rich red color in a small size and proper build. We bred her to The Elms Red Fusion for her first foal, and she had a dark red jennet with lots of the "look at me" appeal, The Elms Red Fuchsia (May 2011). We are pleased to have Sands of Time in our breeding program.

We kept this lovely miniature donkey jennet tucked away, Rembrandt's first foal, and a wonderful example of what he would do as a herd sire. Fabulous! Lady is small, compact, true black, with a smooth body, nice back line, pretty head, and straight legs. With that wonderful temperament Rembrandt gives to his foals. Lady is shown here with her first foal, a spotted jack, The Elms Mirage. We look forward to lots of colorful foals from Lady in future years.

Classy Jennet! Maggie is one of my favorites, a super well built miniature donkey jennet with a great personality, willing, gentle and not pushy. We only owned her show winning sire, Sundance, for a few short months, but he left us some super jennet foals the next year. This picture shows Maggie pregnant with her first foal, and we expect to see some really nice foals from her.

Grand Sire: My World Parker, 31.5" Dark Red
Grand Dam:  Feather Ridge's Saffron, 33 5/8" Dark Red

Blazing Star is a splendid dark red jennet. She entranced us with her enormous star, almost a blaze, at birth. This mini jennet goes back to the richest of the red bloodlines, Fiftyfire, Fireman, and Red Baron. Top that with impeccable conformation, good bone, wide chest, pretty head, and a wonderful gentle temperament, she is a jennet to delight in. She had her first foal in 2011, the same day that her dam, Bubbles also foaled. It is fun to see the three generations at one time, mother and daughter, and both with foals.

The Elms Black Temptress was a high selling jennet at a select sale for a good reason. She has a great stocky build, what everyone looks for in a brood jennet. She is proving herself as a great producer of correct, stocky foals. Her first foal, a jennet called The Elms Sirena, is high quality, very square, short and stocky. We have kept Sirena for our breeding herd. Her second foal, also a jennet, The Elms Pearl Temptation, is a spot that looks like she was cut from the same mold.

Tequila is one of our wooly miniature donkey jennets. She has lots of long hair, which thins a bit in summer, but she never fully sheds it. In her winter coat, she also has dense curly hair on her neck, and especially on her face. She is very serene, no other word describes her temperament. Great build as well. We just love her, and are very happy to have her in our breeding herd.

We have a few of those special long haired (woolly) jennets on our farm. Whisper is one of them, a gorgeous 50/50 spotted jennet. We really love her very stocky build, and gentle temperament. The long hair seems to be accented by her spot pattern, and is so beautiful on a breezy day. We first saw her at her birth ranch, with her sister. I took a picture of the two whispering secrets in each other's ear, and just had to have this pair of jennets. Whisper is never far from her sister/buddy, MGF Tell Me a Tale. Whisper has her first foal at her side, The Elms Persistent Whisper, a beautiful dark brown jennet foaled in 2008 sired by Black Knight. Whisper will be bred to our spotted woolly jack, MGF Musketeer, Spring 2009.

Dottie is the product of champion breeding and is the 2006 and 2007 Reserve ACOSA National Champion and Color Class winner in Shelbyville, TN. Dottie is trained for show and a standout everywhere she goes. Her sire and dam were both first in their class and both 2001 Reserve ACOSA National Champions. Here is a Champion with the hard to get tyger spotting pattern. Dottie will be 3 in August.

Update! Dottie once again is the Color Class winner at the 2008 Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show July 10-12, 2008, against stiff competiton. She also won the three and over ACOSA Jennet Class.

We were thrilled to buy Dots at the Great American Miniature Donkey Sale. She is so beautiful. We have bred her to Mojave for a 2009 and we think that should be an exciting foal!

Windy is proving herself as a producer of splendid, show quality foals, in particular when crossed with our outstanding herd sire, Santana.

Windy had a splendid red jennet, The Elms Soft Summer Breeze, by The Elms Red Fusion, in 2010, an equally outstanding foal.

This serene, white jennet is genetically spotted, with the ability to produce any type of spotted pattern, or a solid colored foal. Imagine what she can produce with the long hair genetics mixed in there as well! Her first foal, by Rembrandt, is a gorgeous red jennet, The Elms Rose Blossom, born in 2007.

Her second foal was a dark brown jack in 2009, The Elms Renoir. Her 2010 foal was a dark brown jennet, The Elms Lilac Blossom. In 2011 she had a red based frosted spotted white jack, The Elms White Lightning.
